Waving the Weiner to start: Hillary on some of Tony the wavers emails, FBI says - cbelt3 - 10-28-2016 http://www.npr.org/2016/10/28/499770889/fbi-to-reopen-investigation-into-hillary-clintons-email Prepare for a tempest in a chamber pot. ( psst-- Feds investigating Tony, not Hilz.) Re: Waving the Weiner to start: Hillary on some of Tony the wavers emails, FBI says - pdq - 10-28-2016 Here's what I'm guessing: in the course of investigating Weiner for sexting an under-age girl, the FBI seized his phones/devices as well as his wife's. In looking at the latter, agents say, 'hey, there are some emails from the State Department or that talk about State Department issues here', back when Clinton was SoS and Huma Abedin was (as she is) a Clinton aide. 'We should probably review these too as part of that investigation.' That's reasonable, I suppose; there's nothing that suggests that these will be anything new - just another way to look at those emails and make sure they have a complete picture of them. What's not reasonable is to drop a vaguely worded letter like this, like a bomb 11 days before a national election. But that's politics. Agreed, but I think there could be more reasonable ways to alert Congress- for instance, I find it hard to believe he couldn't have given the actual facts of what's going on confidentially to these committee chairmen instead of just sending a vaguely worded letter, without any comment, than anyone with a shred of sense could anticipate would cause an immense ruckus. Re: Waving the Weiner to start: Hillary on some of Tony the wavers emails, FBI says - pdq - 10-28-2016 BTW, I'm reading (unconfirmed) that the White House heard about this first from media reports. That's pretty bad. A courtesy call (to the WH, if not to Clinton herself) would have been in order, don't you think? Edit: Make that "confirmed": The White House on Friday said it was not given any prior notice on the FBI's announcement that it was investigating additional emails relating to Hillary Clinton's use of a private email system. That's pretty remarkable. Re: Waving the Weiner to start: Hillary on some of Tony the wavers emails, FBI says - JoeH - 10-28-2016 Comey testified earlier this year that he was no longer enrolled with any party. But for most of his career he was a registered Republican. Some of his actions have tended to be consistent with that prior affiliation. And that would have stayed 'confidential' exactly how many nanoseconds? ![]() You seem to think that an update about Hillary's email could be handled professionally instead of becoming a political shitshow. But Comey's letter specifically says "the FBI cannot yet assess whether or not this material may be significant".
