.....will they make it 'thinner'.....??

Apple's Iconic Fifth Avenue Store Moving to Temporary Location on January 20 During Renovations

......In June 2015 it was reported that Apple would renovate its iconic Fifth Avenue retail store, temporarily relocating its operations to the vacated FAO Schwarz toy store in the General Motors Building. A MacRumors reader spotted a new sign in front of the iconic store that reveals the relocation will happen on January 20.

FAO Schwarz vacated its location in the General Motors Building in July 2015 due to the rising cost of rent. The space is just a couple feet away from the iconic glass cube, making the relocation largely seamless for frequent customers of the Fifth Avenue store.

While the extent of the renovations at the Fifth Avenue store are unknown, the company has been expanding or relocating a number of its older stores to accommodate increased foot traffic. The Fifth Avenue location was last renovated in 2011, when larger, more seamless panes of glass were installed. The renovation was completed in November 2011.

They just renovated those $450,000 (per sheet) panes of glass at that location 5 years ago. Sheesh!

Yeah, it's a waste. But they probably made that 450k back in about 3 minutes. It's like you or I throwing away a pair of socks that we wore 2 times.

That iconic (not to be taken lightly) store location will be missed... Has it only been 10 years since it opened??

Yeah, Husain at MacRumors surely doesn't take it lightly. He used the word iconic in the headline and 3 times in the first two paragraphs.

I like my computers with a little less celebration of architecture, but that's just me.

I want some of their money to be shoveled into Mac Pros instead of giant sheets of Hubris Glass.

Just a bunch of blond tables with doo-dads like all of the Apple stores now. Probably with that one Mac Pro sitting behind that monitor that you mistakenly believed to be an iMac until you recognized that it wasn't an iMac and you said out loud, "Oh." So you took the helm and slid the pointer down to the Dock and you sighed slightly because there wasn't anything interesting to open up and play with, so you opened up Safari and checked out ESPN.com to see what the score was, then you left because there was nothing there really for you to see after you opened up Photos and got bored with looking at those perfect photos, saying "hey they look great on a Retina display." You repeat this scenario every time you stroll through an Apple store.

.....what I don't get is Apple Stores are basically 'bare' to emphasize the Apple products.....I mean white walls, table chair......Apple products.....what exactly are you renovating if they are supposed solely to display the Apple products.....???

.....will tearing down a wall make that much more of a difference.....??
