Friend has the normal wagon, its a lot smaller than you think.
too bad they couldnt make it on the jetta/passat frame, that would be way better.

yes, I agree, it is quite small. based on the Golf (it is a Golf), so I don't expect it big. just curious if anyone has firsthand or secondhand experience.

It's a Golf with some extras. So for the most part, your typical Golf feedback applies.
Reasons to buy
Drives great
Performs well
Comfortable
Lots of little niceties
Reasons not to buy
You don't like to maintain a car or follow maintenance schedules
Prefer cheap repair costs over good performance
You don't like VW or Germans

Haven't driven one but I do have a GTI. Friends seems to like the Alltrack. Fun and sporty to drive. BTW the Golf, Beetle, Jetta, Audi A3, A4, Q3, all same chassis.
VW is being aggressive since they lost all the TDI sales. But in typical German fashion, repairs are costly and regular. Lease it for as long as the warranty is

Not sure where you got that info, but that's not the case. At the very least, the A4 and A5 are the same chassis, but not the A3 and A4.

Isnt it an all new model for 2017?
Assuming its just a lifted wagon. Which is wasted if you dont live near anywhere with "weather". Even so, millions of peeps manage to get by without AWD or lifted cars all over the snowy world =)
I just read its 1.5" higher than normal sportwagon... meh. and Damn, $30K... thats slightly used XC 70 territory... heres a 2013 with 35K for $25K -- sweet ride.

I recently test drove a VW Alltrack. I liked the 1.8L turbo engine, it had excellent pickup, was very comfortable and fun to drive. it handles really well, and was really fun to drive.
I currently own a Subaru Outback, which is mostly used by my wife.
I liked the Alltrack better; I felt the driving experience was much more refined than the Outback. The Alltrack has less road noise at highway speeds, I also felt the suspension was superior to the Outback, and the overall fit/finish of the Alltrack was nicer.
The Alltrack is a very nice car, It think VW has positioned it to compete head to head with the Subaru Outback. The outback is nice, but I think the Alltrack is better.
