LED reader light - vicrock - 02-05-2017 A few months ago, I saw an ad in a magazine (I think) for an LED lamp - very traditional brass base and "normal" shade - table model - that had multiple LED bulbs to give very good light for reading. With the demise of BIG 3 way bulbs that are my go to for my lamp next to my easy chair, I think I would like to get one of these - but, of course, I can't find it. It wasn't cheap - I want to say in the $200 neighborhood - ring any bells for anyone?? TIA Re: LED reader light - Filliam H. Muffman - 02-06-2017 1000bulbs seems to fall down on the subject of adjustable/smart LED bulbs. I can't find a search that gives adjustable spectrum for their stock. Phillips 3rd gen HUE is $50 per 800 Lumen bulb. You will need a lamp with at least 4 sockets ($200) as a replacement of a 300W 3-Way bulb. It would be cheaper to buy a $130 'lightbox,' but I don't know how adjustable they are for output spectrum. Re: LED reader light - vicrock - 02-06-2017 It is amazing to me that with extensive web searching, I haven't been able to find the site offering the lamp I saw - I know they had a site, as I looked at it - but unfortunately I didn't bookmark it! Very frustrating Re: LED reader light - Filliam H. Muffman - 02-06-2017 I found a site that has sliders to control both color temp and brightness, but they don't list prices. My guess is it's over $200 per fixture. http://www.usailighting.com/color-select Re: LED reader light - rich in distress - 02-06-2017 I know you are not asking for recommendations, yet I'll share that last month I got two of these. The main reason was that they have a rechargeable battery, and they have performed great for my intended usage. They were 29.99 though. |
