Not exactly a historical documentary. I hear they actually get around to some superficial treatment of British politics in succeeding episodes. Young queens coming into their own with the fatherly advice of sage prime ministers. For both series, I keep wondering how much, if any, was filmed at the actual palaces, particularly the exterior scenes. It's one thing to build a soundstage replica of some White House rooms and corridors for "The West Wing" or "Designated Survivor," but quite an undertaking to replicate Buckingham Palace.
