good idea / bad idea - buying oakley latch glasses and getting progressive lenses - mattkime - 02-07-2017

I do a good portion of my cycling in the dark but its still wise to wear glasses to protect my eyes. I really like the Oakley Latch glasses but they don't come with my preferred lenses. I'd like a lens that goes from pretty much clear to medium level of protection. I have lenses like that on a $40 pair of glasses but they get scratched pretty easily.

Can I get those lenses made at Lenscrafters or similar? Would it cost me an arm or leg?

CLARIFICATION - I meant transition

You mean darken with UV light, not progressive far to near sighted...

You mean transitions lenses. I'd bet an independent shop that cuts their own lenses would be the way to go. I doubt a chain has any interest in doing that.

Are these similar to what you are looking for?

I think you mean gradient and not progressive or transition.

I believe you can edit the post and the subject, to avoid further confusion.

If you want transition type lenses, and don't want to spend too much, check out some of the online glasses places. Zenni offers a generic photochromic lenses, their version of transitions. They won't have branded Oakley frames though, so you would have to get something similar but not exact.
