Puerto who? - Acer - 09-24-2017

Puerto Rico seems to be forgotten. The poor suffering people of Houston were on the lips of every politician for weeks. Puerto Rico got virtually flattened, and we're hearing nothing. Has Trump even awkwardly tweeted about this part of the United States?

I have colleagues there, no power for a MONTH. They JUST got water online today, hoping for power next week. We have some good fundraisers in our town - but that's because we have students from PR with us.

Not so fast:

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/351730-trump-to-visit-hurricane-ravaged-puerto-rico

"President Trump said Thursday he’d visit the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, which has been devastated by Hurricane Maria.

Seated next to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on his final day of meetings at the United Nations, Trump did not say when he might go to Puerto Rico, but spoke solemnly about the destruction to an island he said had been "absolutely obliterated."

“Got hit with winds they say, they’ve never seen winds like this anywhere,” Trump said. “Got hit as a 5, Category 5 storm, which literally never happens.”

Maria actually hit the U.S. Virgin Islands as a Category 5 storm and then reduced to a Category 4 storm when it hit Puerto Rico, knocking out the entire island's power grid and causing extensive damage to property and infrastructure."

I can't even imagine. We need to as an entire nation put our force and energy into helping our brothers and sisters there.

We know how this will go given that fact that Puerto Rico is:
Not a state
not the right color
not the right language..
