Trump's Chief of Staff John Kelly - my cell phone was hacked - pdq - 10-05-2017
Politico:
White House officials believe that chief of staff John Kelly’s personal cellphone was compromised, potentially as long ago as December, according to three U.S. government officials.
The discovery raises concerns that hackers or foreign governments may have had access to data on Kelly’s phone while he was secretary of Homeland Security and after he joined the West Wing.
triggered concern throughout the West Wing about what information might have been exposed, one of the officials said.
Using a personal cell phone for official duties instead of the government supplied one? Call Fox News! Launch a congressional investigation!

Do they also wipe his ass?
"Kelly told the staffers the phone hadn’t been working properly for months, according to the officials."

To wit; he's not capable of fixing it himself. If his staff doesn't fix it, it doesn't get fixed.

Generals don't reach that rank without first being a snot nosed LT. Although he may not have thought about it.... "WH gave me this phone, must be secure". The comms office is the malfunction.
Remember the kerfluffle when Obama wanted to keep his Blackberry ?

Apparently in response to this:
Secret Service personnel were notified this week that as of Monday there would be a “new restrictive policy” that would prohibit the use of mobile devices, cell phones, tablets and smartwatches within the entire West Wing.
“All personal devices will either be secured and provided lock boxes … or turned off completely prior to entering the West Wing,” the memo said, according to Maddow. There will be a “30-day management period” before policy takes affect and the new rules only apply to personal devices.
My, my, aren't we becoming secretive in the West Wing...
