gift card selling / buying sites - pbarra1 - 11-05-2017
I have had great success buying and using gift cards purchased from such a site. Never a problem but I have read on some store sites that they only accept GC purchased at their own site or purchased in their own store. Is it legal for them to refuse to honor a valid GC that has money on it?

I’m not sure how they would know where a gc had been purchased. Originally, it would have had to be purchased from their store/site.

Not necessarily. You can buy gift cards for various stores at local supermarkets and drug stores.

I've never had a problem using gift cards I've bought on those kind of sites

So now if you receive a store's gift card as a gift from someone, you're supposed to ask where they bought it? Right.

I agree with what everyone has said. I have used one site in particular and only had one problem and they refunded my money. I am still very careful and some stores say in the gift card rules that their GC cannot be bought and sold. Here is a section of Walmart's GC policy:
Gift Card Terms and Conditions
General Terms
These Walmart Gift Card Terms and Conditions ("Terms and Conditions") are applicable in addition to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy applicable to the Walmart.com website.
Nonreturnable; not for resale. Notwithstanding anything contained in these Terms and Conditions, Walmart plastic Gift Cards and eGift Cards ("Walmart Gift Cards") are not returnable or refundable for cash except in states where required by law. Resale of Walmart Gift Cards is strictly prohibited.
They indicate that resale of their GC is prohibited. Would not a site like cardpool.com or raise.com violate Walmart's policy? Just because Walmart says its prohibited I was wondering if they could legally enforce it. Is there any controlling law that applies in a case like this either for or against Walmart or the consumer?
