That news has been out there for a while, but it doesn’t hurt to remind people. Good thing I didn’t have one of those when I was a toddler. I climbed the one in my room a few times.

Cbelt,

Really wish the media would point out that this issue doesn't affect just products from Ikea. Lots of companies manufacturer dressers and bookcases that can topple. At least Ikea is doing something about it. That's more than I can say for most manufacturers.

Eight kids have tragically died from this IKEA Malm dresser falling on them. DIED. WTF.

During the holidays, many people will be visiting friends and family's homes. Keep a lookout for this dresser. This thread needs to replace the old sticky thread about the stock ticker at the top.

Yup, I have no idea why IKEA got the bad rap here, maybe by pure number of units out in the wild compared to other dressers. There have been deaths of children since before ikea existed because of furniture falling on them.

Are you sure it isn't the Ikea Maim?

C(-)ris,

Exactly. We have bookcases that are tall and shallow. Each is attached to the wall. Not Ikea. Custom made. There is a zillion off the shelf and custom products that can _easily_ fall over and injure a child.
