getting this Alert a few days after latest update..
Cannot Verify Server Identity
The identity of imap.gmail.com cannot be verified by Mail
(details) (connect)
This seems to be one seriously messed up update..
Can anyone get me back on track..?
EDIT..also noticing that texts I just sent are NOT showing up in the text thread..i hit send and they basically are gone the next time i revisit the thread..
EDIt again..Text shows two new texts in the inbox..nto finding any..scrolled down quite a ways to find 2 new responses from my Son..
this is nuts

Actually, glad I can't say "I feel your pain". Still ignoring the iOS 11 update notices on my iPhone SE. 10.3.3 in all its stable glory, thank you.
You don't by chance have a backup you can return to? Apple makes it so easy (read: insistent) to do iOS updates (and same now on Macs) I think we are all getting out of the habit of doing a backup first.
Only other thing I can think of is a hard reset - assuming not an iPhone X, hold the home and power keys down at the same time until the iPhone restarts.

good tip, and speaking about that, how do you do a hard reset on iPhone X?

I've been using the gmail app rather than Mail to handle my gmail accounts. It's working well with iOS 11.whatever.

Hard reset on iPhone X:
1. Press and quickly release volume up.
2. Press and quickly release volume down.
3. Press and hold power button until phone restarts.

Press the volume up, then volume down, then hold the side button until it turns off. Apparently you can keep holding it and it will turn back on.
