In today's episode of The Trump Show... Stormy Daniels sues Trump - steve... - 03-07-2018

Adult film star Stormy Daniels has filed a civil suit against President Trump in an effort to void a nondisclosure agreement between the two.

Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, claims in her suit that the nondisclosure agreement is not valid because Trump never signed the deal, according to documents revealed publicly by her attorney, Michael Avenatti.

At the risk of expressing interest in something I actually don't care about ...

- why would Trump need to sign anything for the deal to be valid?
- if the deal was so obviously not there from the get-go, why sue Trump to start talking? Why not just talk?

So much manufactured drama. Daniels needs to know her 15 minutes is already up.

Stormy Daniels sues Trump over 'hush agreement'

Adult film star Stormy Daniels filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump on Tuesday claiming a "hush agreement" that was created several months before the 2016 election was never binding because the president never signed it.

In the lawsuit Daniels, whose given name is Stephanie Clifford, also states that she began an "intimate relationship" with Trump in the summer of 2006 and that it continued into 2007.

The complaint, which was tweeted out by Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti and filed in Los Angeles, said Trump "purposely did not sign the agreement so he could later, if need be, publicly disavow any knowledge" of the contract and of Daniels.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The agreement was created during the 2016 campaign, after the release of the infamous Access Hollywood tape. The tape included a recording of Trump bragging about forcefully kissing and groping women. After its release, also resulted in a number of women coming forward alleging Trump of sexual misconduct.

Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen drafted the agreement and named both Trump and Daniels, in addition to Essential Consultants LLC, which was created by Cohen for purpose of hiding "the true source of funds to be used to pay" Daniels according to the lawsuit.

Reports of the agreement came to light earlier this year after the Wall Street Journal reported that Daniels was paid $130,000 to cover up the alleged affair.
Cohen last month said that he personally paid Daniels and was not reimbursed by Trump or his campaign.

In the lawsuit, the adult film star claims $130,000 was wired to her attorney's trust account despite there being no legal agreement.

Daniels also claims that Cohen has continued to try and keep her quiet. As recently as February 27, 2018, according to the lawsuit, Cohen filed "a bogus arbitration" against Daniels and did not provide her with notice of the proceeding or basic due process, the lawsuit claims.

"To be clear, the attempts to intimidate Ms. Clifford into silence and 'shut her up' in order to 'protect Mr. Trump' continued unabated," the lawsuit states. "For example, only days ago on or about February 27, 2018, Mr. Trump's attorney Mr. Cohen surreptitiously initiated a bogus arbitration proceeding against Ms. Clifford in Los Angeles. Remarkably, he did so without even providing Ms. Clifford with notice of the proceeding and basic due process."

IANAL, but I think that if she accepted the $130K payment outlined in the contract, they had a valid contract even if it was unsigned.

Now, this might get a bit muddy if Michael Cohen is claiming that the $130K was just an unsolicited gift that had nothing at all to do with this contract, making the contract unsigned and unpaid.

I hope someone with a LexisNexis account is searching for suits with the name “David Dennison” and/or “David Delucia.”

This sucks, it invalidates the entire concept of hookers being a cheaper cost of sex than wives,
The entire reason to hire a hooker is to travel light without the baggage.....

Good point. Daniels doesn't actually need to talk to anyone about the relationship. The existence of the agreement effectively does that. If Cohen wanted to gift her "for no reason" then that's bizarre. If Cohen wanted to pay her off ... that's credible.

The only variable is whether or not the contract (why would there be an actual contract for this? Nevermind) outlines what it purports to stand for.

As per usual, the only people who will assign this incident to the president are the ones who care about character.

Do as I say, not as I do.
