Who here knows about old watches? - Kate - 03-16-2018 I picked up an older mens watch in a bag of jewelry, and in looking, it seems some of them are worth a bit of money. Not a whole lot, but a bit. It's a Longings Automatic Admiral 5 star. It also has a calendar. I think its a wind up, at least its running now. I can set the time, but not the calendar. The back reads "R. J. Piexto 30 years Faithful Service the Union Ice Company 1939-1969". No mention of it being gold filled or anything and it has a regular Spiedel band. I just hate to dump it in the junk bag in case it might be worth a few dollars. Any assistance appreciated. Kate Re: Who here knows about old watches? - Wags - 03-16-2018 Grumpyguy? Re: Who here knows about old watches? - voodoopenguin - 03-16-2018 The watch make is Longines (probably a typo on your part) and definitely has value. Here in the UK it should fetch £200 minimum and possibly more although personalised engravings might pull the price down unless they were famous. There are instructions online which might help you adjust the calendar. https://www.longines.co.uk/uploads/customerservice/detail/cs-use-manual/pdf/Instructions-for-use-English-2016.pdf Have fun Paul Re: Who here knows about old watches? - 3d - 03-16-2018 Depending on condition it's worth about $200-250 if you can find a buyer. Maybe a bit less because it's been personalized to a stranger. Take some good photos of it. Post it up on eBay. Sell it "as-is". It's not worth putting any money into it. Re: Who here knows about old watches? - Grumpyguy - 03-16-2018 You might get $3-400 if it is in good shape. |
