Oriole in the yard - DP - 05-13-2018

Some of you I'm sure are thinking, "Big deal. We're lousy with them!". My bird books say they're pretty common around here (metro Detroit) but not in my neighborhood. I see them more at our cottage in northern MI. But one was jumping around our crabapple and I happen to have the SX50 handy. Also I like the color contrast. I hear that we have a lot of them again this year, but as the leaves flesh out on the oaks they get harder and harder to spot despite their racketous singing. I've seen a couple orange ones, but no yellow one yet.
We have a few noisy Towhees as well.

I saw one north of Texarkana last week. Someone said they are around here and to feed them oranges.

Can't recall ever seeing one here in the DC area. Plenty of those red winged blackbirds though.
