Got my bone marrow biopsy results: Myleoproliferative Neoplasm w/ Essential Thrombocythemia - Dennis S - 06-29-2018

There was a CALR and SRSF2 mutation. It could have been a lot worse. Also, the medicine prescribed, Jakafi, is $12,000 a month, but after my insurance pays for it, it's $3.60 a month. And, if anyone ever has to have a bone marrow biopsy, mine wasn't as bad as I feared.

12K down to 3.60? Holy crap. I'm glad you won't be in the poor house or any house other than your own.

Rx pricing (and all medical procedures in general) is a Scam. My blood work without insurance would be $1200. With insurance it comes down to $15, and since it is part of the yearly checkup, it is still covered (even though I had the high deductible plan).

Medical industry is mafia. Switzerland for example spends less and has a higher life expectancy.

.....Humira can cost $6,000-$9000 but with insurance.....only $5 [ that is with manufacturer discount card ].......

Yes, it could have. Never any guarantees in life, but ET is one of the best dx's you could hope for.

I think you mean that US Rx pricing (and US medical procedures in general) is a scam. In any other country his cost without insurance would probably have been $100 or so.

I think you mean...

That's a given since he said 'Switzerland for example spends less and has a higher life expectancy' as an example.
