Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Rick-o - 09-29-2018 I've been sitting on the fence as far as upgrading to L.E.D. bulbs, but I saw these at Dollar General yesterday and bought a couple of packs. Seems really cheap considering what I've priced LEDs previously. Specs: Brand - Globe 60 watt (uses 9.5 watt) non-dimmable A19 medium base warm light 3000K 5 year warranty lasts 15,000 hours Deal, or are they junk? Seems too cheap of a price compared to what the other brands go for, but what do I know? Your thoughts? Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Speedy - 09-29-2018 Let us know in five years. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Forrest - 09-29-2018 I've bought another brand of LED lights at a different dollar store. They lasted about 18 months. $1 for 18 months is not a bad deal IMHO. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - space-time - 09-30-2018 I doubt these are high quality bulbs, I like the Philips, like these, both 2700K and 5000K https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CAL1EMY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The only thing interesting in those bulbs you mention at dollar tree is the 3000K, if that is real. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - OWC Jamie - 09-30-2018 They're likely a safer investment than Sears stock. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Rolando - 09-30-2018 If they last a year, you'll have saved way more than a dollar of electricity! Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Racer X - 09-30-2018 I'm still stocked up on my $1 4 and 6 packs of CFLs from Costco after local utility instant rebate. But I do have some LEDs that are dimmable in our dinning room light/fan combo. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - Marc Anthony - 09-30-2018 Given various factors like your electricity costs and usage hours, your 50 cent investment will probably be recouped in energy savings around the 30 day mark. That still makes them a deal, unless they die immediately. Heat and moisture are the enemy of LEDs. Cheap ones are typically housed in plastic and may lack heat sinks; some have little slits in the enclosure to help dissipate heat, which exposes the LED to the elements. They'd probably work fine in a non-enclosed indoor fixture where they're not tasked to stay on all day. Re: Deal or No Deal? Globe 60w L.E.D. 2 Pack for $1.00 - ArtP - 09-30-2018 My local Dollar Tree had $1 LEDs as a featured item in August so I started picking up a few here and there during the month. I am replacing the ice cream cone swirl fluorescents throughout the house - so far so good. Probably worth the effort. I feel relieved every time I forget to turn off a light for an extended period of time knowing that it was below 10 watts instead of above 60 watts eating all that electricity, |
