Woman trapped in overturned car, uses her Watch and iPhone to call for help. - RAMd®d - 01-04-2019 A woman's car leaves the roadway and lands inverted in muddy water. The video below was re-edited from its original broadcast for increased drama. Originally the phone call was broadcast with few interruptions and not interspersed with play by play 'color'. But you'll get a good idea of her situation. It was a little intense. This is of interest to me not particularly because Apple products were involve (and Google Maps helped) but because she had something, Apple kit or otherwise, and some situational awareness that saved her life. There have been articles in the past about Apple gear saving someone's life or nearly so, and they've also been decried for various reasons. About 30 years ago a young woman rolled over right at the approach to a bridge that had several tens of thousands of vehicles crossing each day (southeast end of the Mendota Bridge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendota_Bridge by Minneapolis/St. Paul airport). She was trapped overturned about 20 feet past the beginning of the bridge and twenty feet down in the brush. She was found three weeks later by, I believe, a pedestrian; very rare for pedestrians to be on the road in that area. Had there been cell phones back then she would not have died. ![]() She went off the road near the end on the right of the pic as she approached the bridge.
