What are we liking for an ergonomic keyboard nowadays? (Added Bonus: a Mechanical Switch Keyboard site) - Paul F. - 02-26-2019

My third (or fourth?) Microsoft Natural Elite 4000 keyboard is starting to get a couple "hesitant" keys that I have to give a firmer push to, slowing down my typing (which isn't all that blisteringly fast to begin with).

I very much like the shape and comfort of the Microsoft Natural Elite 4000, with the front edge "lift kit" to slope the keyboard slightly away from me. This, combined with an Evoluent vertical mouse (love it, love it, love it!) has completely cured my elbow and wrist pains.

Just wanted to check and see if anyone has an "ergonomic" keyboard they really like from personal experience (I can read Amazon reviews... I'm hoping to get some personal experience stories).

If I don't get some other ideas, I'll order another MSNE4K. They're cheap enough that I'm not going to stress too much about it. They seem to last 2-5 years. This one closer to 5, so it's done good service.

On a related keyboard topic
I discovered a maker of "custom" Mechanical Switch Keyboards; https://mechanicalkeyboards.com

I have zero experience with them... I just found the site 20 minutes ago. But, given the much better "feel" of mechanical switches, I wanted to let y'all know that it appears someone DOES still make mechanical switch keyboards. They're about $100, and wired (USB) only, but IMHO, that'd be worth it...
If they made an "ergonomic" one, I'd do that in a heartbeat!

have you tried cleaning it? turn it upside down, compressed air, etc? maybe just some dust bunnies.

I see they are $23 with free shipping, I think you are on the right track... just order a new one or two or 3...

I gave it a quick blow-out with canned air, but nothing more extreme...
There is little doubt there's a new keyboard in my future, I'm just contemplating which one!

Not 'ergonomic' but Matias now sells a plastic version of their "Wired Keyboard for Mac" for $39 direct.

Curious, how well does the M$ 4000 work with Macs?

Thanks! I'll check it out.

The MSNE4K works well... It needs the Intellitype system preference installed to re-assign keys and things, but that has always worked well too.
I'm sure there are other keyboard/USBdevice drivers that would also do it (Is USBOverdrive still a thing?).
I never use the special function keys along the top, so, don't really know how those work.

That mouse look interesting. Im pretty tired of this Apple magic and have been looking out of the corner of my eye for another.

The Evoluent Vertical Mouse?
LOVE mine! Mine is a Left Handed model, which I'll never give up. Been considering shelling out for one for home as well as the one I have at work. They made Right Handed models as well, of course.

How do you like it? Not sure how I feel about a two piece keyboard, but I'm willing to try. Little spendy, though.
