Quality report- challenge coins - SteveG - 06-25-2019

I ordered a couple of challenge coins (cannot describe exactly on this side, sorry) from an outfit in China on eBay for 98ยข a piece. They arrived. the quality is very good. The gold leafing on the figures and print is very, very well done and they came with plastic cases. I bought them as a joke gift, of course, but I just wanted to assure you these challenge coins are every bit a good quality at a bargain price. Don't be afraid to order them, for whatever reason.

How long to receive? Any links to the seller?

Any number of sites on eBay seem to be touting the same coins. I ordered two different types of coins, one a commemorative from last year and one a campaign coin. I received the commemorative within two weeks, the other is wandering its way from China. I shopped for price and free shipping because they all seemed the same. I was not disappointed. (will PM you with the exact coins)

I've never been able to figure out the purpose of "challenge coins" other the than to make money for the person selling them. :dunno:

"Guess you've never been in the miliary."

I have not served in the military.

In the military, what is the purpose of a Challenge Coin?

It's a "Me wall" thing. Physical reality of a relationship with someone with stars.

When I was in defense engineering it was coffee cups... I have a collection of coffee cups from the projects I worked on. My favorite is the Edwards AFB B-2 cup... the B-2 disappears when you pour coffee into it. We also collected patches, but they were primarily for service members. We geeks didn't rate jackets and didn't want to steal the honor from those who did.

Others have photos of themselves with various people. But those are too easy to fake now. The Coins are harder to fake, so they have meaning.
