Any Instapot boffins in the house? - Blankity Blank - 06-29-2019
I’ve been thinking about getting one, but the $80 price tag inspired some diligence doing.
So far I’m hearing fairly minor mistakes can lead to some dangerous results. And then delish.com warns that they can overcook some veggies, and drops this little bomb,
“There have been some tests conducted on the Instant Pot, revealing trace amounts of lead found. The good news? It wasn't found on anything that directly touches the food, however, if you're really concerned about lead poisoning, this machine may not be for you.”
Doesn’t “directly” touch the food. Uh huh. And do they really know a whole lot of folk not concerned about possible lead poisoning?

One of my friends got one and she is afraid to use it because of the stories she has read. After she purchased of course.

I use my Instant Pot with no worries. The inner pot is stainless steel.

That sounds like alarmist news. Maybe there's lead in the solder of the electronics or something. I own all three sizes and love them all. No worries here.

I'd be curious, but unless it's trace amounts of plutonium or similar, it's trace amounts of lead that don't touch food. That article owes the reader a better understanding of the situation.
I own all three sizes and love them all.
I just looked at the site.
There's a Max, an Ultra, and two Duos.
Is there a Mini?
I've got a mini Crock-Pot[sup]®[/sup] that isn't a true cooker, just a food warmer that I sometimes used where a microwave might not give the best results. A small Insta-Pot might be a handy thing.

Not moved irrevocably either way yet. Going to poke around and see what Mediterranean Diet cookbooks are out there that are InstaPottable.
