10 key kid’s accordion $14 shipped - pRICE cUBE - 06-29-2019

Buy it for someone you like?

Buy it for someone you don’t like that has a kid who will play it unceasingly as the ultimate psy-ops revenge?

Include links to Steve 'N' Seagulls videos as to how playing the accordion can be cool, but in fairness being built like a Defensive Lineman while playing the accordion does tend to give any naysayers second thoughts.

For those not familiar with them, Steve 'n' Seagulls are a Finnish band that do covers of classic rock songs using traditional bluegrass instruments. Rather than try to describe them further, here are a few videos:

AC/DC's "Thunderstruck"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4Ao-iNPPUc

Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JFb_aOn6rc

Iron Maiden's "Run To The Hills"- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jGAfzrdpxo

The two instruments I hate: bagpipes and accordions. The noise they produce should be considered cruel and inhuman punishment. :boink:

At least accordions aren't particularly loud. There's no getting away from the sound of a bagpipe in full song without leaving the neighborhood.

THANK YOU for introducing me to one of my new favorite bands: Steve N' Seagulls!! The videos, with the accordionist arriving in a different ridiculous fashion in each, are awesome... and they are both creative and talented!! I've never heard of them but they rock! They are somewhat of the reverse of Me First & the Gimme Gimmes.

I will put a disclaimer here: I play accordion and am a giant fan of TMBG and Weird Al. I like all sorts of other stuff, though, like metal!

You're most welcome! I'm just glad to see someone besides me (on here) appreciates them. They do occasionally appear in the US, usually at festivals, so check their schedule for a venue near you.

I hadn't thought of them in that context, but that description definitely hits the nail on the head.

I think one reason some instruments get a bad rap is because people insist on playing the same boring pieces of music on them in all situations such as "Lady of Spain" on the accordion or an extra draggy version of "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes. There is no law that says you can't use an accordion to play Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda Da Vida" or bagpipes to play Uriah Heep's "Stealin'", so get creative and have some fun. Don't wait for your instrument to become cool, MAKE it cool!

Edited to add: Another suggestion to challenge the accordion status quo- Vanilla Fudge's "You Keep Me Hangin' On".

I hope I get to see them.

The first song I taught myself on accordion was Smoke on the WaterSmile
