To clear any confusion, I intended a yes vote to indicate agreement with the NY Times headline to stop holding the keynote events.

A good question. I've felt this way for about...what year did Jobs die? 2011? About 7-8 years now.
I think even he would have backed off them for all the points mentioned in the article.

It's nice to see some of the new features in action.
Apple's support-videos often look more like commercials than walkthrus. I've gone back to the keynote to find out how something was supposed to work several times.

I agree with the NYT that the keynotes have become an embarrassment, all these geeks sitting with their glowing laptops cheering for the new price points or gasping at the slightest improvement. You know the audience is spiked with plenty of loyal Apple employees. It was different when Jobs was there: he had the kind of magic where you couldn’t take your eyes off of Him. But Steve took his Reality Distortion Field with him, and Tim Cook and his minions will never fill the void. Zzzzzz.
