That point in the Ikea instructions where I really wish I knew how to cuss in Swedish.

Re: Page 27 - mstudio - 09-16-2019

My Swedish neighbor said once you have built 50 Ikea items you are considered an honorary Swede.

I officially hit that mark earlier this year.

It will all be cleared up on page 28.

Upvoted for the funniest thread in September.

There's a certain point where putting together Ikea furniture became intuitive to me. Just found the knack. Only took a few "Oh cr@p that was the top and I just put it on the bottom" moments.

...Did you know that there are assembly videos on YouTube for many of their products?

Every. Single. Time.

My biggest problem with "intuiting" is that I'll get to part number 50 and realize that it was actually part number 2. And there's no way it can go in, unless it is installed second. So the whole thing needs to be taken apart...or we do w/o that part.

Yeah, I rarely look at ikea instructions, I get it, seems fairly intuitive to me. Did a couple of bookcases a few weeks ago, meh.

How much could it possibly cost just to put the finishing strip on the front AND THE BACK of the shelves?
Every damn time there is one shelf with a raw edge facing the front.
I did once have to resort to coloring the raw wood with a black Sharpie, as I had already nailed the back on, and it was the bottom fixed shelf.

How much? Probably a few dimes. But in too many industries the "bean counters" have taken control of what gets put into a product, not someone who can say this would be more convenient, safer or what have you for the consumer who buys it.
