POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - tuqqer - 10-09-2019 I did my yearly look-see for new local deals (Tampa, FL area) for Internet. Was paying $75/month for around 60Mbps, and found Frontier had a deal going for $40/month (really $51 after everything) for their new 500/500. The very kind and proficient tech guy just left and here's what speedof.me is showing. No complaints. Never thought I'd see speeds like this in my lifetime. Seven years ago, I lived in the countryside of Boulder, Colorado and was barely getting 5/5. Thought this would be a good time to get a poll of what you MacResourcers are getting around the world. ![]() Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - Buzz - 10-09-2019 Spec'ed at, and paying for 200Mbps, reality is about 70Mbps == Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - TLB - 10-09-2019 Pay for 3 but average 1.5 down. Upload is near zero. Old school DSL that telecom won't upgrade. Can't switch to cable because the "tree" they would attach me to is "at capacity". Use my cell as a hotspot when I need to do something important. Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - ArtP - 10-09-2019 Supposed to be 100+ on Comcast Blast but...... ![]() I guess I should restart my modem and router to see if I can get back above 100? EDIT: I guess I am supposed to be on Comcast 200+ tier - suck to only get 40ish..... Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - deckeda - 10-09-2019 Our copper/fiber/whatever phone service is right about 35Mbps but this isn't the rock-solid "DSL" I'm used to in years past. It spikes up and down somewhat, as if it were cable service. Throughout a day or so we'll have a "pause" where everything feels slow but what really happens is nothing happens for several seconds, like someone temporarily unplugged the DNS service (yes we use Google's or Open DNS' addresses). $18 of our bill is for a landline we don't use but are obligated to keep for IP service. There is no alternative, zero competition at our location ... thanks, Congress, for giving ISPs the "freedom to innovate!" Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - bazookaman - 10-09-2019 If I plug my MBP directly into my modem, I can get around 950Mbps down and a tad slower up. But as it stands, everything goes from the modem to the secure gateway to the switch to the AP and wirelessly to all devices where the most I'm looking at is around 80-90Mbps. Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - Rick-o - 10-09-2019 104.6 down 9.87 up Charter, or I guess they call themselves Spectrum now. I'm fine with the internet service, but the cable price/selection is crapola. Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - tuqqer - 10-09-2019 bazookaman wrote: holy moly. Who's your ISP, and what State? Re: POLL: What is your current Internet Speed? - Blankity Blank - 10-09-2019 WiFi from modem. Didn’t bother shutting anything streaming down. Package (TV, DVR, internet) $128 after taxes. ![]() |
