Office Depot issued credit for misrepresented iPod speakers-YEA! - rgG - 12-04-2006

I sent Office Depot an email telling them that the iPod speakers that I, and several others here, ordered were not as advertised. They sent me an email today saying that they had issued a credit for the $6.57. They also said, "Please feel free to keep the item #148708342, discard, or donate it."

So, if you orderd these speakers, just send them an email and point out that they were not as adveritised, no "docking station" and no USB cable included and they should issue you a credit, too.

jeez, this sure seems like an expensive way for OD to unload crappy inventory!

Would you mind sharing the content of the e-mail you sent? You obviously were effective with your e-mail- my three are due to arrive this afternoon. I'm sure I won't be anymore pleased than the rest of you.

Thanks

celliott,
In your order confirmation email there is a link to send OD an email, called "email support". I clicked on that and it took me to a page to send an email. In the drop down I picked the "return/exchange" heading ( I think that is what it was called). Here is the text of the email:
" I recieved the SKU#148708342-iPod/MP3 "Portable Speakers With Dock Station" which I ordered. These are advertised as "This compact portable speaker system does double duty as a docking station for your iPod or MP3 player." It also says "Also includes an AC adapter, a USB cable and a user's manual." It has neither a docking station nor a USB cable. Did I not get the right product? I am very disappointed that what I thought I ordered is not what I received. Please advise."

I think they have gotten many many calls and emails about these already and my guess is all you have to do is mention that they are not what you thought they were and they will issue credit.

HTH. Be sure to check "response required" (or something like that) if you want a return email from them. Good luck.

Many thanks rgG. I sent them the e-mail. I just got my order- they really are unbelievably cheap. Looks like we might get a mini-plug to mini-plug cable out of the deal, that's about it though. Can you believe what they are passing off as a docking station?

Can you believe what they are passing off as a docking station?

If by docking station they mean a small ledge that you can perch your iPod on so that it will no doubt fall off at some point, then sure it has a docking station. Big Grin

I ordered two which arrived today. I can't even find where you are supposed to plug the AC adapter in. This is real junk. I can't believe they had these advertised elsewhere on their site for $49!

I found the place to plug it in. I guess it's worth $6. I expected much more though.

They didn't respond to my email request for a refund.
