Nano problems - Markiscool - 12-12-2005

Ok. While on vacation in Chicago my wife (against her better judgement) let me get a nano. It ran fine the first time I used it but then it started freezing up. The screen will keep moving as normal but the control stop responding and I eventually have to hold the Play/Pause button for a few minutes straight to get it to shut off.

What do i do? Is there a software fix? Maybe I haven't installed the latest stuff for it? Should I call Apple support (it has been about 2 months)?

Call Apple. It's still under guarantee. You could also check the Apple iPod discussion forums at http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=154

You might also try the Restore to original option in the iPod Updater software (CD that came with Nano or in your Utilities folder). The mass burn in process done on iPods initally seems relatively flakey compared to doing the individual Pod.

This made a huge difference in the stability of my Nano (4G Black)

PS You have a great name.

Crap. Irestored the software. The ipod worked for a minute and then stopped responding again. I guess I'm going to have to spend time on the phone with Apple. *sigh*

I'm guessing you don't have an Apple store nearby. If so, I bet you could walk in with yours and walk out with a new one.

Nope. I got this one at the Apple Store in Chicago. They don't have one here in Birmingham. Sad
