This Old House "News" - MrNoBody - 01-31-2020 Jan. 13, 2020: Statement from Roger Cook: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce I am stepping away from This Old House and Ask This Old House to focus on family and the things I love." ... (I just noticed this in the credits)... Sep. 2019: This Old House is no longer produced by WGBH (Boston). It is now a WETA (DC) production. WETA also produces the 'Ken Burns-Florentine Films' documentaries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Old_House Big thank you and be well to Roger! Re: This Old House "News" - Dennis S - 01-31-2020 Well, that's better than what I thought it would be. Re: This Old House "News" - mrbigstuff - 01-31-2020 TOH spun off years ago into their own "corporation", and are based in CT. Re: This Old House "News" - jdc - 01-31-2020 Never saw the show, but 35 years is a pretty good run for just about anything... Re: This Old House "News" - Paul F. - 01-31-2020 Kind of a relief that he's just retiring from the show! I've watched (on and off) probably 20 seasons of TOH... One of the ones I remember best is the "Manchester by the sea" house. Talk about a big project! I've learned a LOT about home building and renovation from that show. Enough to know when to call a professional. Re: This Old House "News" - Dennis S - 01-31-2020 jdc wrote: Really? There are youtubes with it. Try one out. I bet you like it. Re: This Old House "News" - RAMd®d - 01-31-2020 I watch both shows, but am unaware of who Roger Cook is, or what he does. I've watched TOH since the first days of Bob Vila ('79), and weathered the subsequent hosts. The current series (41) has Norm Abram making some appearances. He's been my favorite personality on the show, followed by Tom Silva. Re: This Old House "News" - mrbigstuff - 01-31-2020 Dennis S wrote: Really? There are youtubes with it. Try one out. I bet you like it. Must not have a television. There's really no way you could avoid it as an adult of the last 40 years. He has the thickest Boston accent of them all. Re: This Old House "News" - Thrift Store Scott - 01-31-2020 Dennis S wrote: Really? There are youtubes with it. Try one out. I bet you like it. Absolutely! Lots of real-world tests and evaluations of new products, plus great examples of problems one might run into when doing jobs around one's own house such as things messed up in former remodels or additions like crazy wiring, bad plumbing, poorly-installed windows and doors, etc. and how to fix them, plus lots of make-the-job-easier tips and tricks from professionals in their respective trades. Also lots of examples of how to deal with insanely anal-retentive HOAs and Historic Commissions. |
