confused about ibook video connector - mrbigstuff - 12-10-2006 i need to present a keynote file tomorrow at work. after fishing about for the video adapter, i see that one end is a female pin serial cable and the other is the video out on the ibook. is there another cable that attaches to the female end (since i don't have an LCD projector handy to know)?? thanks. Re: confused about ibook video connector - Tofer - 12-10-2006 You need a male/male cable from the projector to your iBook cable. Whoever has the projector will almost certainly provide that cable. -Tofer Re: confused about ibook video connector - Ken Sp. - 12-10-2006 I think you are talking about VGA rather than Serial. Your dongle is likely a MiniVGA-VGA cable ![]() Is it this? ![]() If so you need a VGA cable to connect to the projector. The other option is to get the Apple MiniVGA-Video which allows you to use either s Video or RCA (Composite) If you need sound--these are video only. Re: confused about ibook video connector - mrbigstuff - 12-11-2006 ken, which are video only? is the last graphic you show the only connector that will do sound? Re: confused about ibook video connector - Ken Sp. - 12-11-2006 All the connectors are video only. The last connector is S-Video or RCA composite If you need sound you have to use the audio/headphone out jack----but unless you have a sound system you are fine Re: confused about ibook video connector - Jem - 12-11-2006 The quality of the VGA adapter is much better than plain RCA or S-Video. Go that route if you can. Re: confused about ibook video connector - chas_m - 12-11-2006 I have yet to come across a modern-day projector that didn't have VGA input (and usually a VGA cable with it). So what you want is the (included with iBooks) mini-VGA to VGA adapter. If you've lost yours, the Apple Store or an Apple Reseller is your only hope. You really waited till the last moment to think about this! Re: confused about ibook video connector - M A V I C - 12-11-2006 Make sure you get the right "mini VGA" adapter. I know the one for my PowerBook is different than the one for the iBook. Re: confused about ibook video connector - Ken Sp. - 12-11-2006 If it is an iBook it is Mini VGA |
