Nintendo for an elderly parent - iaJim - 12-11-2006 OK, my MIL is 87, but she's mentally much younger. She runs a windows box, sort of, and loves to play games. I've been seeing the Nintendo DS/Brainage ads and wondering if any of you know how difficult it is to use. She does have arthritic hands, and if the buttons are too small she probably couldn't use them. I've never seen one in person. What do you think? Re: Nintendo for an elderly parent - jesse - 12-11-2006 The buttons are pretty small, also, the screen might be to small for her to see well. The game itself looks like fun, my 12 y.o. plays it, maybe you could find something like it that she could run on her computer. jesse Re: Nintendo for an elderly parent - Tofer - 12-11-2006 Get her a Wii! I bet she'd love it. -Tofer Re: Nintendo for an elderly parent - Chupa Chupa - 12-11-2006 I'm getting one for my mom, but she's only 67. She like playing Suduko on mine. Brain age is fun and easy to learn, but if have arthritis maybe not so much. In fact most DS games focus on the stylus. If she can't hold it steady the machine will frustrating. Re: Nintendo for an elderly parent - karsen - 12-11-2006 I have a DS Lite and Brain Age. I think she would find it fun to play. The standard stylus is small, I would suggest buying a thick pen stylus from an office supply store. The Wii would also be great. The game that comes with the Wii (Wii Sports) is like Brain Age for the body. The word is there is a Brain Age coming for the Wii too.
