comment if you read the article, not just something off the top of your head from the Subject line.

Interesting rumor.

I'm thinking Comcast's "On Demand" will render Tivo obsolete at some point and that Apple doesn't care about Tivo users that don't have Macs.

The author makes some valid points, but I still would not be surprised if there *was* a merger of some sort.

I don't like the name "Mac Media Capsule"

hard pill to swallow

Nope, unless Apple is making a follow on product after iTV.

All they're talking about is whether Apple will license a patent. Big whoop.

When I look ahead a year or two, I see a media server sitting in my closet, with an HDTV-compatible eyeHome-like device hooked to my teevee. It'd be nice if it was Apple hardware, but I doubt it will be.

Apple has stupidly resisted making a low cost Mac that used a 3.5" hard drive. Would people be willing to pay $900 for a HD TiVo machine that only stored 8 hours of content? Apparently yes, I think a bunch of the moron mini fanbois would clamor for it for a month then it will die a long painful death.
