. . .there are a few mutual funds mentioned with $1,000 minimums. . .

yeah. "Gift" isn't a verb. You don't "gift" something.

gift n.

1. Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation.
2. The act, right, or power of giving.
3. A talent, endowment, aptitude, or inclination.


tr.v. gift·ed, gift·ing, gifts

1. To present something as a gift to.
2. To endow with.


It is used quite a bit in the accounting (tax matters) end of the world.

I don't care what an online dictionary says, really.

"Gift" isn't a verb. You don't "gift" something to someone.
