anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - SteveJobs - 12-12-2006 I have a big ticket item, the buyer is a doctor at Berkley (googled his name), the payment is sent, but the address if unverified/unconfirmed (sic). Any issues in general? I'm just wondering. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - TL - 12-12-2006 Addresses are confirmed. Accounts are verified. Your buyer needs to pay with a confirmed address for this sale to qualify for PayPal's Seller Protection Policy. Your account needs to be verified for you to qualify for the SPP. There are other criteria for the SPP. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - SteveJobs - 12-12-2006 Okay, anyone have any trouble with a paid item, that is to an address that is unconfirmed? Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - Chupa Chupa - 12-12-2006 What difference would it make if someone had trouble w/ a paid item to an unconfirmed address? It's purely anecdotal. Take what TL is saying to heart. If you don't want problems then don't send to an unconfirmed address. You are 99.1% safe that way. If you want to be a cowboy and send to an unconfirmed address then you assume the risk. Personally I would never send to a unconfirmed address and make that clear in my auctions. I've even delayed shipping until the buyer got a confirmed address. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - SteveJobs - 12-12-2006 it makes no difference to ME, but PayPal specifically notes that this will fall OUTSIDE the seller protection plan. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - silvarios - 12-12-2006 I've sent a couple small ticket items to unconfirmed addresses (less than $12), and after establishing a relationship with an eBay seller, they have shipped me product to an unverified address (it was a gift to my father, yet paid through my verified account). I would be wary for big ticket. It certainly seems much safer to stick to confirmed addresses. Nathan Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - Ken Sp. - 12-12-2006 I had a weird one today-Buyer had to use a credit and a debit card combined to make it to the $1300 for my MBP. One payment is to a confirmed address--the second payment is to the same address, but unconfirmed. The person has a strong eBay rating and it is the same address--so If PayPal screws me--I have a pretty good leg to stand on. The person actually mistakenly sent $50 extra--which I noted to her, and I will refund. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - max - 12-12-2006 give the customer a chance to get his account modified with a confirmed address. The fact he is a doctor makes him more of a possible problem.... Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - TL - 12-12-2006 Ken SP, I hope you're aware that accepting multiple payments for your item means that you are not SPP eligible. Beyond that problem, if the buyer files item not received claims for both payments, you'll win one with your tracking number but lose the other because you won't have a tracking number for it. In general, you need to have at least as many tracking numbers as payments. Re: anyone have any trouble with paypal payment, unverified address? - SteveJobs - 12-12-2006 SO, I should send it so that they HAVE to sign for it, then it sounds like. |
