Setting Up An IMAP server on Mac OS X? - microchip13 - 12-12-2006 Ideally I'd like to go ahead and set up an IMAP server on my G5 rather than paying my friend money to do it. I did some quick googling and came up empty. Any places to start? And, also with IMAP, I'd like the full shebang, being able to send and receive mail too, just store it all on the server. Re: Setting Up An IMAP server on Mac OS X? - Paul F. - 12-12-2006 Sounds like what you want is a copy of OS X Server... I think OWC still has OEM copies for $129 (?). I don't know of any other mail server solutions as easy or as cheap. But then, I don't know much period... I use a combination of DNSupdate and a free DNS server at ZoneEdit.com for my home email and it works perfectly (although my IP address via TimeWarner/RoadRunner hasn't changed in the 2 years I've lived in this house). Re: Setting Up An IMAP server on Mac OS X? - microchip13 - 12-12-2006 Yes, I've got a domain name. I haven't had a problem with IP addresses although I did get a new one a few months ago after having the same one for several years. Thanks again! |
