follow my lead?!....South Carolina taking Florida's lead and will reopen...... - NewtonMP2100 - 04-19-2020 ......public beaches and retail stores next week..... South Carolina to reopen public beaches, retail stores next week amid pandemic ....South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster ® on Monday will announce the reopening of public beaches and retail stores that had been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Post and Courier reported. The impending restriction rollbacks follow McMaster's announcement that access to public boat ramps and landings was reinstated on Friday. Trey Walker, the governor's chief of staff, told the paper that the beaches as well as furniture, jewelry and clothing stores will all be reopened for business on Tuesday. Beaches and retail stores have been closed for just over two weeks in the Palmetto State as it tried to curb the spread of the virus. Walker told The Post and Courier that infection rates dropped enough to make easing restrictions feasible. The paper noted that social distancing will still be enforced on the state's beaches. The state has more than 4,000 confirmed cases of the virus and 116 deaths, according to data compiled by The New York Times. On Friday, Texas became the first state to lay out a defined rollback of COVID-19 restrictions, with Gov. Greg Abbott ® saying that businesses in the state would being to reopen next week through a series of executive orders. open..........sesame.......?! Re: follow my lead?!....South Carolina taking Florida's lead and will reopen...... - Lemon Drop - 04-19-2020 He can announce it, but that doesn't mean the cities and counties will do it. Local governments in SC closed before the state did, even in open defiance of the state's AG. Many mayors in the state are Democrats, they care about their people and don't give a f%ck what Trump says. The mayors know what they're doing. FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD/WSPA) – The City of Isle of Palms, the Town of Sullivan’s Island, the City of Folly Beach and the Town of Edisto Beach released a joint statement regarding the reports of the potential reopening of public beach accesses in South Carolina. The cities said they will continue to monitor the outbreak of COVID-19 and will remain committed on maintaining safe regional practices. They said there is no evidence from medical professionals that indicates that the threat of COVID-19 in the region has diminished, adding that South Carolina is still in the acceleration phase and that new cases could begin to grow quickly if social distancing restrictions are lifted. All four coastal municipalities intend to maintain entry checkpoints and access restrictions after Gov. McMaster announces the reopening of the public beach accesses this week. Charleston County Parks will also remain closed and the municipalities say they are working closely with Charleston County and Colleton County Governments on this effort. They plan to “continue to collaborate on a coordinated, measured and staggered strategy to safely reopen their communities.” https://www.wspa.com/news/sc-beaches-release-joint-statement-on-the-potential-reopening-of-public-beach-accesses/ Re: follow my lead?!....South Carolina taking Florida's lead and will reopen...... - Sam3 - 04-20-2020 Unless the governor overrides the local administrations, like Florida did. Re: follow my lead?!....South Carolina taking Florida's lead and will reopen...... - Lemon Drop - 04-20-2020 Gov. McMaster is on the tube right now - he says he is lifting the state order that closed beaches and boat ramps and is putting the decision to re-open back onto individual mayors of coastal towns. He has also allowed non-essential retail stores to open but requires that they comply with social distancing rules, limiting the number of customers in the store to 20% of normal. |
