Left wing idiots at it again in Seattle - SteveG - 06-11-2020
Apparently, the same old left wing gang in Seattle has decided to declare city hall its sovereign territory or some such stupid stunt.
Seattle has a lengthy history of these folks doing activist/violence demos. It's a small group and I believe partially stems from the influence of the Seattle Six (or was it seven), a group of 'warriors' who moved from Ithaca in the early 1970's to Seattle. I knew them. They are the type of 'left-wingers' who once you listen to them for a while, you say, 'give me a break.'
You might remember them from the 1999 World Trade Organization Meeting demos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_Seattle_WTO_protests
They are the last remnants of West coast lefties who came to prominence in the early 1900, and then pretty much disappeared by the 1950's. Seattle is the rump of this gang. The dozen or so 'antifa' activists from Portland know them as their great Marxist illusion packs a couple of school buses (or would if they could find an electric one).
They can be safely ignored and will go back to something that makes sense, like their favorite climate change issues.

Nutty is usually still harmless and like you say, temporary. As such, I'm happy to file this under: Live and Let Live.
What's different today is that Trump has directly threatened them, which if recent history is any guide, will entice violent people to act just enough to make it look like it's actually these folks being violent.

If antifa existed, I might be able to make the distinction. Today's anti-capitalist anarchist is yesterday's Marxist insurgent and vice versa. It depends on which decade they happen to find themselves in. It's fungible.

That's a pretty dismissive statement about a lot of people who have dedicated their lives, not just their internet posts, to fighting injustice and domination.

The police abandoned it to reduce tensions. They entered back late this morning and found very little damage except for a bit the parking garage.
