It must be a bumper crop this year, as I don't remember them being this annoying. For about a month they have been carrying on. I have one right now in the room that won't shut up. Of course, I can't find the little pest.
How do you deal with these noisy buggers?

The ones inside: My cat finds them for me. I scoop each one up into a glass and chuck him outside.
If you're hell bent on chasing them off to quiet the choir, note that they like things warm and wet and are attracted to light. Address patches where water is pooling (which will also help with mosquitoes), water your lawn less often to allow it to dry out, rake the grass and pull up brush from around your home where they might hide from predators, and turn off outside lights and use curtains to block light from escaping from your windows.

It's the two random crickets that somehow seem to get inside the basement each year... one near the sump pump and one by the furnace blower. The sump pump one is active now and will last for about another week. Then there will be a week of silence, and the one by the blower will arrive. They're little ones with a weak chirp, so I mostly just ignore them. I feel your pain!

I sent Mrs. Buzz & Baby Buzz to Australia about 15 years ago so the kid could play on a baseball tour (along w/ some sightseeing). Prodigal Son brought back said red leather cricket ball and maple cricket bat as souvenirs.... I tried to smash a few crickets w/ the bat over the next couple of years, but them critters were just too fast. Never did get one w/ the cricket bat.
Best luck has been capturing 'em w/ a glass bowl, and sliding bowl onto a piece of paper, then rehoming 'em outside.

Use a narrow beam light to draw them out. (i.e a strong flashlight or spotlight pointed at the ground from a short distance)
