The USA isn't even making use of 4G speeds. There's no reason to build a 5G network except for marketing purposes. Just make 4G work correctly. https://bgr.com/2016/02/04/lte-speed-test-comparison-global-2016/

Yep. I work with a national-level expert on all things RF, he told me it'd be 2022 at the earliest before legitimate 5G is working in the US (good chance it's not until 2023), and that the carriers haven't even fully implemented LTE yet.

I get a kick out of the Verizon ads: "in PARTS of SELECT cities like L.A. & NYC."
In English, I'm pretty sure that means that, the general bulk of Verizon customers will NOT see TRUE 5G service for YEARS.

$35/month for my unlimited AT&T LTE "tablet" plan (moved SIM to a hotspot)
No longer available, originally I thought I'd use it just for travel/backup, but with speeds of 25-35 MBps down it's good enough for my main access.
Wouldn't pay much more for 5G.

ATT LTE blows near me, and it's a major metropolitan area (Allentown PA). It's so bad in spots, nothing will load. Looking at T-Mobile once the new iPhones are announced.
