Do You Litter? - Rick-o - 09-08-2020

If you do, I would like to give you a solid punch in the nose!!

I had to drive to the County seat today, about 22 miles from my rural town. The road leading there had much more litter than normal. Cups, styrofoam food containers, etc. The land is mostly state land with virtually no houses along that stretch.

We do have adopt-a-highway crews that clean the roadways, but to me, little piggie weekenders could just stay home, for all I care. Just send your money to us and stay home, you damn pieces of sheet!

And yeah, I'm serious about that solid nose punch! There's no excuse for this kind of behavior! :punch:

Rant now over.

I think the instances of people actually littering might be really low -- but mother nature takes the rest.

Local landfill is 5 miles away getting beat by the same 30+ mph winds we are.

Yeah - how about the self centered folks who do things such as leave their almost empty drinks and food containers on the seats of buses and light rail cars.

Methinks a little bit of reeducation in Singapore would do them a world of good.

There’s a stretch of road close to where I live in similar shape. No dump in the vicinity.
Inexcusable.

Never. And I get really pissed when I see people do it. And yell at my kids when they don’t recycle.

Not intentionally. Though every so often I find I am missing a paper or other scrap from my pocket.

As for litter along the roads, a few of the Greek organizations at the university have adopted stretches of the roads nearby and pick up litter once or twice a month as part of the community service. Otherwise some of the inmates from the county jail do pickup at times as their community service portion of their sentences.

In the 50sand early 60s, families would congregate all their hamburger wrappers and paper cups into one sack and throw it out the window.

At least then it was all paper and would, in theory, biodegrade. Plastic straws and wrappers these days won't.

i thought plastic straws went the way of Oprah.
