What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - JTman - 12-13-2005 Sometimes I go in and open Safari and get immediately transferred to the Panera sign in page and everything's cool, other times, it'll start redirecting for a moment - you can see the little swirly green logo on the top of the page - and then nothing. It just won't get to that page. Many times, I've had that happen and have had to sit there for quite some time trying to figure out WTF. Then, after a long time maybe it'll just happen. All the while I'm showing kickbutt airport reception. So F*&^% annoying, I can't begin to tell you... I have a 1.25 15" Al book, have settings at grab whatever network is available, what's my problem? Thanks, JT Re: What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - Jimmypoo - 12-13-2005 I've been outside during the summer - and just stopped in with the Pismo, it was hot - and nobody was outside, and I plopped at a table, got my mail and drove off. So, in answer to your question.... I don't know! (and I use that barely functional DLink DW-122) Re: What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - New.Dad - 12-13-2005 I wonder if they use a DSL connection. Sometime my DLS connection drops, so I get no internet connection, even though the _Airport_ signal is strong. I have to go into the WiFi base station (D-Link) and check the PPPoE status... then I click "Connect" and after a few minutes, it's fine. So maybe their PPPoE drops sometimes although the WiFi signal is strong. Re: What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - ArtP - 12-13-2005 My friends and I often meet at Panera for the free wifi. Our workaround is use Internet Explorer to connect and agree to their terms. When you are connected THEN you can use your browser of choice. (Close IE without disconnecting, then use Safari) Face it, the world belongs to Microsoft. Re: What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - Mike Sellers - 12-13-2005 Yup, that's what works for me. IE, switch to another browser, then some asiago cheese bagels. Mmm mm mm. Re: What's the problem with using wireless at Panera's? - DP - 12-13-2005 Just used it at Panera yesterday with no problems using Safari on my Piz. |
