New here, looks familiar... - JTman - 12-13-2005 Well, I was found and told and here I am. Looks like home, but why split it up into two forums? Also, does this mean it'll be a full-time OWC lovefest? I have no current issues, although I've had one in the past, but previously on that other forum it seemed like if someone raised a possible issue they were assaulted by others who were in the opinion that the company could do no wrong. I realize that quite often these cases involved folks not going through the normal procedures for getting help, but a few times there were some valid things brought up and they were squashed. It was just a thought I had when I heard about the new alt. forum - anyways, it's good to be back in the community - thanks in advance for any mac help and hopefully I'll be able to offer some myself. Julian Tracy (T-bone) Re: New here, looks familiar... - dad@home - 12-13-2005 welcome! Sometimes bad things happen with products from good companies. Toyotas breakdown Apple computers crash Loyal Costco customers sometimes go to Walmart Sh## happens and OWC occasionally screws up. What's important is how they deal with it. OWC Larry is a "can-do" kind of guy and his attitude has made him a lot of loyal customers...myself included. dad Re: New here, looks familiar... - RAMdnd - 12-13-2005 LOL, George! That always cracked me up! Yes, this has a familiar feel, but I need to call CLARK! There's a bug or two that I can shake. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon. Re: New here, looks familiar... - JTman - 12-13-2005 Yea, I've had my share of problems with Apple and with their computers. And, I had a Toyota Tercel that went to poop. Good point. I guess I was speaking less of the actual problems or OWC's handling of them, and more of the unpaid choir that ramped up in each circumstance. In my experience, the poster usually accused OWC (or Small Dog et al) of being a shady operation that deliberately screwed them out of their last penny and they wouldn't be able to pay the rent and their 9 children were out on the street being chased down by wolves. Naturally, the poster got the smack down. Of course they will make mistakes, but they will work with you to resolve issues. Not to mention being very stingy with replacement screws for 5-year-old drive enclosures. Sheesh. What an outfit. |
