Standard vs Glossy screen on the MacBook Pros? - Racer X - 12-28-2006

anyone that has used both, or has the glossy screen, I would like your impressions on your day to day experiences.

Mostly for photo and video use, so image quality is the deciding factor for me. I can make a hood if I had to.

glossy is to make your screen look more like a TV. reflections would be a pain in the ass to look at while doing photoshop retouching work.

I have both.
I much prefer the glossy screen, especially when viewing/working with photgraphs. It's like there is nothing between your eyes and the actual LCD screen.

However there is no matte screen between you and the screen to reduce glare. In some instances this can be a problem.

I had a big honkin' plate glass window behind me, which caused a glare problem, until I moved my desk 90 degrees (and hence the screen).
edit: I never noticed it with the matte screens, previous.

If you're comparing screens in a store, aim the screen up at the flourescent lights. The difference will reveal itself.

We have both at home. I much prefer the glossy. I have to really work to make the glare issue occur, but I'd guess that if you were in a room with lots of glass (especially at your back), there might be a problem. When all is said and done my next screen will be glossy.

So, is someone going to be getting a new MacBook Pro soon? They had the Core 2 Duo refurbs at the Apple Store this morning. Big Grin

Speaking of which, we should do lunch sometime soon.

If we do a business lunch, you need to wear that tailored charcoal wool miniskirt number with those strappy black leather heels. Your choice of bra, but something push up would be appreciated.

Ok, nevermind then.
