Some DVD rip questions - iaJim - 12-30-2006 if you were so inclined to download a DVDrip file (daa) what would you do with it to make it a DVD? If this isn't the right format to download, what format would you use? Re: Some DVD rip questions - x-uri - 12-30-2006 It depends on how it was encoded. "DVDrip" just identifies the source of the video; taken from a DVD, as opposed to a "cam" (videotaped from movie screen), or a "TS" (videotaped from a move screen with audio captured directly from the soundtrack), or captured from a broadcast on television (files with PDTV, HDTV, tivo, etc. in the name fall into this category). If the file is listed as a VCD or KVCD, or if it is an "avi" encoded with some version of the Divx (or Xvid) codec, then you might be able to drop it directly into Toast and burn a DVD or video CD from the file without using any other software (you might have to download the Xvid codec for Quicktime) If this doesn't work, then either ffMPEGX or Visual Hub is probably your best bet for transcoding the file to a burnable MPEG-2 file. You can find a lot more information, here. Re: Some DVD rip questions - MacArtist - 12-30-2006 Jim, A DAA file is a Power ISO format (PC). You would have to convert the file to regular ISO on a PC before you could use it on a Mac. Re: Some DVD rip questions - x-uri - 12-30-2006 Whoops -- totally missed the parenthetical "daa". Yes -- what MacArtist said. Re: Some DVD rip questions - iaJim - 12-30-2006 You didn't miss it x-uri, I added it after your post and before MacArtist's. Thanks for the info. Re: Some DVD rip questions - samintx - 12-30-2006 Is DVDrip a mac program?? Re: Some DVD rip questions - Seacrest - 12-30-2006 [quote iaJim]You didn't miss it x-uri, I added it after your post and before MacArtist's. Pretty sneaky, Sis. Re: Some DVD rip questions - BigGuynRusty - 12-30-2006 [quote samintx]Is DVDrip a mac program?? Nope, not an app, it is a file description, it means that this file is ripped DVD file.
