Without covid the national death rate is 6 per minute.

It's starting to get truly scary here in L.A. County. The thing is that the Gavin Newsom recall movement is coming from the right wing and Republicans, which means that it is kind of an irony. Newsom did attend that dinner with two people more than ordinarily allowed (at the time) and later (when caught) apologized profusely. I think that Newsom and the various mayors have done a pretty good job in the face of a difficult and ever-changing problem, and the Trumpistas have done their best to undermine the wearing of masks and anti-congregating rules. A couple of churches have been pretty loud in their carrying on of large gatherings, which didn't help the situation.
