Has Yahoo gone mad? - JEBB - 12-31-2006

I tried to view a video on Yahoo Sports and it came back with the message that it only works with IE and Windows. For a company that makes its money based on the number of eyeballs that view its ads, excluding Firefox and Mac users seems crazy. If little YouTube could make videos universally playable, why can't Yahoo's programming department?

I gave up on consistency in Yahoo videos years ago. Some play, some don't. Arrrggg.

I have been a big supporter of yahoo as I think they have the best set of centralized apps via their MyYahoo accounts. But this last year several parts of yahoo have stopped working reliably with Safari for me and I have recently abandoned it.

Yahoo and MS has teamed, so you will see more of this from yahoo.

Same with NickJr.com videos. Maybe not a big deal to you, but to Mac using parents with little kids, quite a snub.

Yahoo is changing things just to say they did. Most of the recent changes have been for the worse. I hate the new Yahoo TV page and have not used it.

To think some visioned the internet as being OS agnostic.

Obviously, Microsoft saw the Internet as another opportunity to embrace and extend. From Windows Media to ActiveX, they have numerous tools to lock out non-Windows competitors.

You and me both. Much less functional than the simpler pages it replaced. Looking for a replacement.

Me too. takes about 4 times as long to load at all, and as you scroll up or down through the channels, it takes me about 4-6 seconds for each chunk to load.
