They were already looking pretty bad after they failed to send him back to prison (modified his terms of his release to explicitly ask him not to hang out in bars with violent white nationalists) after he was repeatedly caught violating his bond agreement by going out and getting drunk with a bunch of Proud Boys, Klansmen and Nazis while out on bond. So a "high-ranking Kenosha police official" advised them to put down the wrong address.
