Have two Identical HP 6700 printers but one prints when color low other doesn't - Microman - 02-09-2021

So one printer says that the Magenta is low, but if I want to print in B and W hit the ok, and it prints.

If I move that same magenta to the other, it indicates Magenta is low, but doesn't give the option to print in black and white.

Ideas

Different firmware?

or different printer driver version.

Disruption in the space-time continuum.

The setting can be changed in the printer admin page for most HP printers. Can't swear that they are present on yours, but if the option is there, this is how to find it...

Put the printer's IP address into a web browser to access the printer admin page.

...Or if you don't know the IP address then from printer's printer queue window click "Settings" and then "Utility" and then find the "Device Information" option which has the button called "view configuration page." Click the button.

Locate the supply settings and change the setting to a very low amount. I have mine set to 2%.

While you're there, ensure that the cartridge policy and protection are off if those options are available.

I got into the administration page, and can see all the options. I don't see the Supply Settings where I can change the setting to a very low amount, as in your 2%. Maybe my printer doesn't have that, or I cant find it. Cartridge protection is off.

Cartridge Chip Info is ON, I guess this sends anonymous info somewhere.

I don't use a lot of HP Genuine Carts. Mostly LD Products rebuilt carts...

Getting some delivered today, so I will be able to put the Magenta into the one that refuses to print at all, and I have did a first cleaning of the printhead with a syringe and cleaning product.

Nice to be able to use the IP address to go directly to all that info.

Unrelated question, just yesterday I was poking around my hp AIO sysPrefs, and went into the printer page.
It asked for my system password before actually logging in (in the usual system dialog box), which I provided.
I became a little concerned afterwards...
Anyone familiar with this? Did I really needed to provide admin creds?

Ah! You've got the pre-class-action firmware!

"Chip Info" and "Anonymous Usage" info should be turned off. That's how it counts printed pages and decides to kill a cartridge for low ink.

That one has an LCD panel, right? Check the Setup >Tools options in addition to the web interface.
