Here's hoping that having a trans woman portraying Buffalo Bill (ironic, since in the book Hannibal Lecter states that BB isn't actually a trans woman, but is so abused that he thinks he is) will make the series less transphobic than the original film. That movie did untold damage to trans people with its awful portrayal of a transperson-as-sociopath.
