In south Arkansas. I've seen a tanager picture that may be it. There are, I'm assuming, females that are similar to female cardinals but a little smaller. I'm just speculating these females belong with the bright red birds.

Male scarlet tanagers have black wings. Females have hardly any color at all except drab green.
Female cardinals have a crest and are a light brown to very subdued red.

I think Buzz's bird is a male Summer Tanager in breeding plumage. Did you just shoot this image, Buzz?

This looks like the males I see, maybe 2 or 3 a year. I presuming the drab ones are the female. They look like a female cardinal without the crest and are about 7/8 the size.
Edit: From what I've read lately, the females are yellow and juvenile males are splotched with dull red.
