So, I might buy a Nikon DSLR, except no one has any to sell. - Acer - 02-13-2021

Well, not no one, but the big camera retailers don't have much to offer.

Thinking about a D7500 to replace my D90 dinosaur.

B&H, Adorama out of stock. BestBuy has a 2-lens kit, but not a body-only. I don't need kits, I have a bag full of lenses and accessories, and those kit lenses don't bring much on resale especially after fees. I'd really like a factory refurb or maybe a vetted used from KEH, actually, to save a few $.
Amazon has some from sketchy sellers that might be gray market. Then there's eBay, but I'm not excited about such a big purchase there, unless it's one of the big retailers using it for outlet sales. The used prices there are not as good as the Adorama or B&H (out-of-stock) refurb prices

I'm curious why the pipeline is so dry. Is it COVID? Is it this bad for other camera brands, or just Nikon?

What's your budget. Adorama has a used D500 for $950.

Says in stock at B&H, $777 used. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/used/1333060?gclid=CjwKCAiAjp6BBhAIEiwAkO9Wug2T3m35dUt7C0ARFCLXeKnxlt2H9bY8Q2VU6N9FwK0hAo6cQiBIMRoCKY4QAvD_BwE

And don’t fear eBay. Pay attention to the pictures and so on. And just send it back if there’s a problem.

In my recent searches on photo gear on eBay, it was the used purveyors (KEH, Roberts Camera) unloading their shlock there. mpb doesn’t seem to do that as much.

mpb has them for about $700, https://www.mpb.com/en-us/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-digital-slr-cameras/used-nikon-digital-slr-cameras/nikon-d7500/

The D7500 is probably nearing the end of the line. Nikon and Canon are trying to figure out what demand there is for DSLR vs. MILC (mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras). I believe Canon will shift faster as Nikon plays a more watch and see game.

The used market for DSLR is nice at the moment with people fleeing perfectly good SLR cameras. It may take a bit more time and attention but I found a gently used D850 on ebay.

While more expensive, the D500 is a better camera and worth the extra money in my opinion.

Something to keep in mind though, is that the D500 is a slightly larger and heavier camera than the D7500. It can be a noticeable difference if you're not used to the more prosumer cameras like the D500.

The D500 has some top notch features but also has a few give backs.

D500 has the AF module similar to the D5 and shoots 10 frames per second, better weather sealing.

D7500 has a pretty fast frame rate and built in pop up flash, lighter,
