It's about the same as a small generator, but it doesn't need to run the motor constantly because of the battery. You could power your home with it. It was baked into the design of the charging standard. CCS2 also was supposed to include it, but I haven't seen reports of anyone actually using that feature. Nissan Leaf is the only production CHAdeMO vehicle in the US as far as I know. Re: Powerless People: Power House With your EV - Bill in NC - 02-17-2021 Last power outage here (~8 hours) the neighbors used heavy-duty jumper cables to connect a large (noticed it was also pure sine-wave) inverter to their vehicle's battery & left the vehicle running. Then ran extension cords from the inverter through the kitchen window, for the fridge, presumably. I'm considering the same, but into the basement for the furnace & possibly the chest freezer. |
